Barns Ness

Barns Ness - is a long narrow strip of open coast with a rocky shoreline. At low tide, rocks are exposed with some rock pools. You can also find plenty of fossils around the beach area.

Belhaven Bay - is an extensive beach within the John Muir Country Park, adjacent to Dunbar. The beach is ideal for walking, having picnics and sunbathing and affords splendid views out to open sea with the open water being extremely popular for surfing.

Dunbar East Beach

Dunbar East Beach - a mix of sand and shingle stretching south-east from the harbour. When the tide is out a number of rockpools can be explored. At the north end the beach is backed by a sea wall which forms part of the old harbour. A golf course lies adjacent to the southern end of the beach.

Gullane Bents - is a great fun beach for all the family with walking, kite flying, picnics and windsurfing and canoeing. There is a crazy golf course nearby and also a motor museum three miles south of the village.

North Berwick Milsey Bay

North Berwick Milsey Bay

North Berwick Milsey Bay - it is a perfect place for swimming, walking, exploring rock pools, sun bathing or for a family day out. At the western end of the beach a pool has been created in the rocks where children can paddle and sail boats. The Scottish Seabird Centre, which provides information about the wildlife in the area, is located next to the harbour. It is possible to take boat trips out to the seabird sanctuary on Bass Rock which is visible from the beach.

North Berwick West Bay Beach

North Berwick West Bay Beach

North Berwick West Bay Beach - close to the seaside town of North Berwick. It is ideal for paddling, sun bathing, walking and picnics. Behind the beach there is a putting green and the North Berwick Golf Club is found to the west of the beach.

Thorntonloch

Thorntonloch

Thorntonloch beach - is about 400 metres long and is backed by low, grassy dunes. It is very popular with fishermen and is also used for bathing and windsurfing. In May 1950, this beach gained brief notoriety when 147 beached whales became stranded here.
